I had the engine apart (again) and when it went together the temp sensor for the gauge is totally wacko. It used to read about 20 degrees high, now it is 40-50 degrees high. Is this thing shot or what?
Who has the source and P/N of replacement sensors for a 73 bb that are somewhat close? Thanks.
I am also looking for the answer to this question. Jason at VetteInstruments@aol.com has offered to calibrate my temperature gauge to the sensor for a fee. I'm thinking that might be the best way to go. GM still has the sensors available but it has caused my gauge to read lower then actual temperature. At least by calibrating both together if a new sensor is ever required there will be no more messing around.
Seems to be a common problem the last few years. I have experienced it myself. Oddly enough my best luck has been with the sensors from Autozone. Recently, though, Corvette Central has begun advertising correctly calibrated temp sensors for about $20.
Several guys have posted that they have gotten good sensors from these guys, http://www.lectriclimited.com/switch...al_devices.htm
About halfway down the page are the sensors, I'm not sure which one is the right part number for your car, but I think all the 68-76 engines used the same gauge and sensor.
