454 engine #'s help
Can anyone help me identify the motor which came with a 72 BB I purchased about a year ago. When I purchased the car the guy said everything was original except the motor and averything has panned out. He gave me a motor and 2 sets of heads for the BB. The #'s I got off the block are (TO1104XC) and the vin. on the back it has "HI-PER PASS " I don't see any other numbers on the block.
The heads have the following : 1 set has H31 71 GM12T 6272292
the other set has C7 72 GM11T 3999241
also the intake has GM3963569

Look on the right side (driver's side) of the motor in the back. There should be a number stamped in the block above the bellhousing where you can see it. I have a 1972 454 in my Vette. Numbers matching blah blah blah. I also have HiPerf Pass on my block. But the block is a 2-bolt main. Yours probably is too. Sorry. Give me the casting number and I can verify it.

The "XC" part of the suffix, is probably missing a 'C" in front of it. CHeck out this site.

Hey thanks for the help. It looks like the block is a marine engine either a 230 hp or 370 hp. I guess I will take the pan off to see if it is a 2 or 4 bolt. The 4XC is clear on the engine. Don't know much about a 1984 LE 8 230 hp or a 1994 L-19 370 hp. Anyway thanks for the input. :cheers:
