Tach filter
Just installed a new tach filter from Rodney Dickman. As his website (www.rodneydickman.com) states, the filter he sells is a functional replacement for the original tach filter on GM cars with electronic tachometers (it doesn't look the same as the unavailable factory piece). Took my '80 out for a test spin, and the new filter works like a champ. Prior to this, the tach would indicate correctly, but would "dance" with oscillations as much as 1000 RPM at times. $25 and 30 minutes later, problem solved.
Just thought someone out there may appreciate some feedback on this subject.

It doesn't look anything like the original. It's a "functional", not exact replacement. Basically, he's taken the correct electronic doodads (technical term), hooked them together, then sealed them in shrink tube. Seems to be watertight. There are three leads (distributor/tach/ground). The bundle is about three inches long, and maybe a half inch diameter. I hooked everything together, then concealed the wires in a pice of black plastic wire conduit (similar to what's used stock). I've totally removed the original tach filter and bracket.
