Kiesler install...CAUTION...large pix ahead...
about 3-1/2 hours goin in...so far...
all ive got to do is put the driveshaft back in and put the interior back together...
here is a summery of how it went...
we screwed up and put the yoke on the driveshaft and then tried to install it...
UH UH...dont work that way...
gotta bolt the driveshaft to the rear and THEN put the yoke on...
under the car...
the speedo cable was another unexpected treat...what a PITA to get that was to get out of the backof the speedo...
my back is still feeling the pain from that one! :)
when under the dash like that, ya kinda wish you had another arm coming out of your head!
also...as you can see from one of the pix...i cut my exhaust...
it is nearly impossible to get this larger trany up in there...
my sidepipes wil be here in a day or two so its really no biggy...
its rainin here and will be for a couple more days anyway...
the only other thing that sucked was having to put the trany AND the bell housing up in there at the same time...NOT bolted together...
it a good thing my buddies were there to help me because it took some wrasslin and jugglin to get it in there!
two under the car and one on the jack...
im gonna button it up and ill let yall know how it all works out...
thanx everyone for your help along the way!

Also you are at the harder parts of the install. I bought a 5 inch c-clamp to put the yoke and the driveshaft together. Put the fixed end of the clamp on the body of the yoke and the moveable end on the cap you are trying to press. Worked out nicely for me if you have someone to help hold the driveshaft in place while this is going on. Good luck. You only have about 30 minutes work left.
:jester

You'll love the O/D !!! Nice job.
as far as the yoke goes...well that was another story...
79...the "bastard" year...
if you are odering for a 79 be sure to tell them if you have an early or late 79 cause the early (mine) had a large yoke at the rear end and the late 79 had the small...
they gave me the wrong one so off to the parts store i went...
got a 1310/1330 u joint...it came with a 1330/1330...
the 1330/1330 has equal lenght diameters and the 1310/1330 has them long one way (to fit my yoke) and shorter the other way to fit the drive shaft...
went in pretty slick...
installing the front ujoint wasnt nearly as hard as i thought it would be...
the only test drive i got was 3 miles from work to home as i am running off straight headers...hense i couldnt really appreciate the trany...yet.
in the morning im going straight to the exhaust shop to get hooked back up...
then its off for a real test drive!
ill let yall know!
