BODY EXPERTS!!! C-3 inner frame replacement
Ok i need body experts here. My entire inner frame is rusted up on my 69 coupe. I need to know how to pull it out and fix it or is it too big of a job to do? I have seen where some guys have pulled them out of a convertable but not a coupe. Any info and help would be appreciated.

Are you saying your birdcage is rusted out? If that's the case, is it the whole thing or just a portion on it? If it is the windshield frame and header, those parts can be purchased from most Corvette parts houses, or good used ones can be purchased from parts resellers.
Actually, about every part of the birdcage can be replaced with either new or good used sections.
Several of the guys have done repairs of this kind, Redwingvette (Brian) and NHVette (Dave) have both done partial birdcage repairs. Go to their websites and look at the pictures of what thye did.

yes i was referring to the birdcage....my ignorance showing. thanks for the info, i sent both e-mail begging for help.

I am just at the start of this job, I have to replace the entire front portion of the birdcage. Fortunately the rocker channels are still in good( resotrable condition(this still confuses me).
My door pillars are rusted into oblivion and the windshiels\d frame has already been replaced(not well) I have a complete front half of a birdcage that I am going to weld in over the next couple of months.... I don't plan on having too much fun doing this.

Mike we are in the same boat. BUT, my back section of the birdcage where it ties into the rockers is also gone. This is going to be alot of work....But that is ok..misery loves company.

Ray, since you have a 69 and the back of your birdcage gone, you have a lot more work than me.
That whole roll bar is enclosed in fiberglass(at least my 77 parts car was) Hopefully its isn't too bad too far up and you can just join it to existing rollcage without too much cutting of the fiberglass.
If you were closer, you could come pick up the I have the roll bar loop out of the 77 complete all the way down to the rocker channel.
Tiem to go clean the garage as get ready to start cutting it apart.

I see i have my work cut out for me. My birdcage is rusted pretty bad on the top T-bar next to the body. by the back window. Thanks for the offer i might take you up on it to try to ship it here. Let me know if that is possible? Thanks
