The carburetor I'm using at the moment is a Barry Grant. It looks exactly like the Holley HP950. It has air bleeder and so on. This carb was working fairly decent until I decided to modify it. I sent it to Davinci carbs where it was tuned to get the most horsepower out of my engine. This where my problem started because when I got it back my carburetor it had larger jets and no power valve. so I was constantly fouling out the plugs. I decided to jet down and install power valves. I installed a new set of spark plugs and it works fairly decent. MY BIG FRUSTRATING PROBLEM IS GETTING THE CAR STARTED. If the car is cold it starts great but if want to restarted 20 minutes later it just doesn't start I have to keep on pumping the accelerator and after many many struggles it starts. I'm just frustrated with this carburetor. Should I just buy a Holley HP950??? Does anyone have any experience with the HP950?? Thanks :withstupid:
There's a BG carb paper by Lars here: http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/BGCarbPaper.doc
Read it carefully, it's a good place to start. Post again if you have any problems following instructions in the paper.
I have the same problem with a Q-Jet. Got a possible fix I am going to try when it comes out of the paint shop. If it does not work going to get a Holley. :skep:
