I don't know much about a 4175 but I would check the fuel level in the bowl(s). I also had this happen on my 850 when I mistakenly made my fuel system non-vented. You can imagine the havoc that played on my needle and seat.

Spewing fuel? Are you kidding? Speaks volumes about the way the car was maintained!

Just kidding.. Had to get you back for your comment about me only needing one muffler on my car... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=702542

Sounds kinda silly after you think about it, doesn't it?

accually yea it does speak volumes about the carb since I just bought it used from a guy. My maintainence philosophy is replace and repair before it goes bad. Usually bad parts or parts on the way out usually take out other things and ends up costing more to fix than if it was done right to start with.

thanks and have a great day.... oh and :lolg:

I could go on and on... I could rib you about putting a used carb on your car since you got me for only replacing one muffler when the shop told me that is all that was needed.. But I think the point has been made.

BTW - replacing only one bent muffler does not mean it was not done right to start with...

How much fuel pressure? Too much will overwhelm the needle and seat. Or, you could have some trash in the bowl. Or, you could have a bad needle and seat. Or..

brett
I have the stock mechanical pump so I am sure that pressure isn't a issue. The needle and seat could be as when it was shipped it could have taken a bad jolt . I have pulled them and they dont look bad however in the Holley instructions it caustions against putting pressure on the needle and seat while adjusting the float level so they must be kind of touchy. I am probably going to just put a kit in it. Then I know what I have and can go from there.
have a great day.
