1 Guage Side Post Battery Cables
I got a side post quick disconnect for my battery, but the negative cable is to short to put it where I want it. The cables that are in the car look like 1 guage. I've been trying to find a replacement cable for it, but everyone only has 2 or 4 guage side post cables. I've found some places that would make me some custom length 1 guage cables, but they only have top post ends. Does anyone know where I can get the cable I need? Is 1 guage cable the stock size that came on 81 Vettes?

You need to go to a place that supplies parts for big trucks. Or see the guys in the parts department in the local Navistar, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, or Freightliner dealership. They have access to good quality cables and the stuff to make them. They can order with whatever ends you want. A truck "threaded post" cable end will work as a GM side-post end. You may have to use a little longer bolt than stock.

ahh... ben, scrape the 20+ years of scunge off the cable an you may still be able to read the word "METRIC" on it. :rolleyes:
yeah, you'll find that alot on these cars. don't burn out a fusable link, either. :banghead:
try someplace like 'lectric limited' or just buy a standard AWG and be done with it.
