I wanted to add some pulleys this winter crank, wp, alt etc. and can't decide to go with chrome or polished aluminum. I will be adding a chrome alternator also. Cost doesn't come into play in this particular choice.
Just wanted to get some opinions which would look better with what I've got so far.
i would go chrome simply cuase its easier to clean, and keep shinny especially on a pully as it can be a tight fit for hands. Besides, you have chrome air cleaner and valve covers.
Polished aluminum!!!! The shine has more depth and the parts look so much more racy! They are also clear coated so maintenance aint a big deal. The chrome you get nowadays is soooo cheap. Once it goes bad thats it...you have to get it rechromed. Aluminum, you strip off the clear coat, repolish and bam....it's new again.
chrome looks better for sure and is easier to keep nice but aluminum will run much truer the best way to go would be to get an aluminum pulley chromed

The thing with chrome is that once its scratched..its scratched, you would have to strip and rechrome to repair, which is expensive.
With aluminum, if its scratched you can sand, polish and reseal it (zoop seal is great) yourself for next to no cost and an hour or so of time. Buy yourself a buffing wheel and you can get an excellent shine on any aluminum part.
Not to mention weight, a majority of the time the aluminum equivalent is lighter.

Re: Chrome vs Polished alum poll (moosie982)
I have aluminum March pulleys on mine and they came clear powder coated so they still look like brand new. I have been thinking of getting ahold of some of this Zoops polish/seal for my aluminum vavle covers to see if it really works as good as they say.
although i like the looks of both...personaly i prefer the aluminum look...
but i see a lot of chome on yours so if i were you i would stick to chrome...
one thing that i personaly think does NOT look good is a mix of too much of both...
I think Aluminum is winning, I'm glad. That was what I liked.
I'll be buying them after Christmas and post some pics when I get them on.
Thanks to all who responded to the poll. "HAPPY HOLIDAYS"
Chrome is for WUSSIES!!! BILLET ALUMINUM!! Polished, clear powder coated aluminum is MAINTANCE FREE!! March makes an awesome set of pulleys. Excellent quality and with their brackets everything lines up. I've used their V-belt underdrive (HP) pulleys for about 10 years and just sold them on the forum 'cause I stepped up to their serpentine underdrive pulley set. No preblems with charging, overheating or anything. They are clear powder coated so just a little spray of water & they clean right up.
All of the polished aluminum is CLEAR POWDER COATED  Very easy to keep clean.
By the way, those wheels I bought from you polished up pretty good for what I'm using tthem for (cheeter slicks). You probably wouldn't recognize them
