For over a year, ever since I had my '82 painted have had heck with my door locks. They would pull out when I would try to unlock them. I've went back to the paint shop several times with this problem only to have it happen again. After having to call AAA last time to get in my car because both locks fell out, I finally decided to try an fix them myself. Guess what, it took 4 hours and several shots of whiskey but they are fixed. I tore my hands up a little as they are pretty big and I'm sure there must be a tool for putting the keeper in the slot that their supposed to be in but they are fixed. Plus, I even soldered the wires that actuate the auto door locks and now they work too. :hurray:
apparently the guy(s) at the paint shop didn't have the patience to install the clips like you did. ...or, maybe they just didn't have the right brand of whiskey???
Door lock horror story....
I took my new 70 to work for the first time yesterday. Dumb butt that I am, I locked it up tight without trying the locks. Guess what? They don't work! So I am totally screwed. What am I to do? Call AAA and have them *&%$ up the door rubber with a slim jim, just to find out they can't get it open anyway? My T-top rubber is shabby; I decide to go at it with a coat hanger. A frustrating hour later I realize I can't budge the interior lock ****. PLAN B: I get to work on the rear window latches. Those suckers lock tight! A half hour later, I manage to open the left one. By this time, I've got a frickin' audience offering advice and snickering under their breath. It takes me another hour to pop the right one. Believe me when I say that I am in a foul mood as I wiggle my butt through the back window. Try THAT at home without a audience, now openly laughing their asses off. I either need to fix my locks or carry a hammer. :banghead:

Oh yea, that can't be any fun. What a bummer but at least you got in and you got a Corvette. Of the people that were laughing at you, how many even own a Vette?
