Well I've been in process of moving since last week so there has been no time for the Vette but I took a few minutes to install some of the items Ecklers sent me.
1. ABS plastic compartment box. Arrived with pull loops missing the washer over the rivet. Loops ripped off when pulled on. Drilled and installed new rivets with washers. I expect some quality when I pay good money
2. Compartment pull tabs (77-79) I hate those leather loops and had the metal tabs on the old 77 Vette which worked great. These looked the same however one there is a square cutout on both sides of the circle where the lock/ push button goes instead of one square cutout and 2 the tabs hit the carpet ledge when the compartment door closes. is the 68 compartments different then others???? They look identical to my 77 and 70.???? Had to put the old loops back. A real shame becuase those metal tabs shine up like billet when I use the buffer on them. Back they go. :(
3. Tachometer cable. The bag it was in says 1968 tach cable, the sticker glued to the cable says 1968 tach cable but the damn thing is 4 feet long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the time I realized this I had already lubed the new cable removed the old one and now I have 3 feet of coiled cable tie tied (BUBBA STYLE) under neath the steering column so you can't see it. I have no idea what the cable actually goes to, maybe the speedo cable to tranny, still looks too long. It works for now but it will not last with the friction caused by three loops. It appears as though the vender put the wrong cable in the bag. :skep:
I wrote Ecklers and awaiting response. I will opay for another cable if I have to but do not wish to drive without a tach unless it's an emergency.
Anyway enough of that rant. I'm almost moved in and the Vette's happier then a pig in poopie since she went from a 3/4 to a 2 1/2 car garage. Pics to come as time allows.
To me, Eckler's has always seemed like a giant warehouse that purchases other vendor's products then tacks on a percentage for their overhead. I think most of the interior pieces and such probably come from Corvette America so Eckler's probably does not even inspect the product when it arrives from their supplier. I tend now to deal with the original supplier if I can. At least they will understand what you are talking about when you return stuff.
I think they started putting the metal tabs on the pace cars? My '79 had them but my '77 had the worthless loops. I got new doors from Ecklers and the first time I pulled it up out came the screw. :mad
Good Luck Mark

Re: ECKLERS ORDER (AGVI)
I have tried to get the correct speedo cable more than once and everytime it is about a mile too long also. Why can't the correct speedo cable be had. I guess the same people must make the tach cable also.
you people really get a kick out of laughing at someone elses misfortune don't you? Where did the sympathy go here? And don't make it sounds like I am continuously swearing here. You are NOT funny, not by a long shot.
I'm not laughing at anyone's misfortune nor am I trying to be funny.
I'm merely trying to make a point that he shouldn't worry about the whole Ecklers thing. He has a nice car and house and should be grateful, as I'm sure he is.
I just tend to think of the less fortunate who will never own Vettes, or any vehicle for that matter.
Just seems like a trivial post...of course you children of the forum will look up ALL of my posts now and find some of my 'trivial' posts.
blegh, what a load of christmas spirit. If you always have to look back at the less fortunate you won't be able to enjoy anything, might as well go out and go sit tin the woods with a tent freezing your b-hind off. Fact is that some people think too lightly of stuff, everyone here works hard for their money and when spending it you expect quality stuff for it in return.
Enough bickering..back to business... I find those metal pull tabs snag, scratch, or rip anything stored in the back (T-Tops especially) and will bend when doing so. Loops for me!!!

Don't order again from them. I would sure use Dr. Rebuild and Paragon for reproduction parts.
:iagree:
I bought a gallon of bonding cement from them to reattach my front and back clip to the birdcage plus a few other items. Mixed exactly as directed at about 75F and 75% humidity. The epoxy NEVER setup to any real strength. I pulled the panels apart with my fingers. I mixed up some test batches with what remained of the cement, varying the amounts of catalyst, and never could get a good setup. Called to get a refund. They wanted me to ship the empty cement container to them at MY cost and they would CONSIDER giving me a refund. It took me two days to tear the car back apart and clean all the crap out of the bonding areas.
Forget them and they can forget my business. I called VISA and told them to hold the item in dispute.
And yes, Ecklers pointed me to their "warranty" requirements - the ones I got several days AFTER the sale. Their warranty is unenforcable in Texas and probably most anywhere else. What you sell has to do what you advertise it to do - no ifs, ands, or buts and the conditions have to be agreed before money changes hands - but this is a whole nother dicussion.
So, I have one brush with Ecklers and end up with a near empty can of $60 worthless cement. I guess they got me. But I wont be tricked twice.
I have had absolutely NO issues with the Dr and Paragon. Even CC has been good to me.

You too? I didn't know at the time that the bonding agent didn't bond right. I lost the fender in Atlanta going down the highway several months after I had installed it.
Thankfully, there are wonderful forum members around and my panel was rescued and shipped to me. I love [most] Corvette owners!
When I redid the interior of my car this fall I ordered from four vendors. I would say thay only 60% of what was to be Corvette replacement parts where near factory quality. They had the wrong finish, wrong screw lenght(I could have did better buying from the local Ace hardware), fit was only near what it should be,color match was iffy at best. I think most vendor figure most people are like me and only need it to be close. If I had a car anywhere near original I would be major ticked at the quality of what vendors call equal to factory parts.
Thanks Cali for your post. Post like this informs people of the quailty of the parts that one can expect from different vendors. I for one like to know about these things. Your right, you pay good money for parts and should expect quailty parts. Some vendors in this forum bend over backwards to give their customer what they pay for, and want you to do business with them again. And some vendors seem to not care if you order from them again.
It's a real pisser, when you wait for something to arrive and it's the wrong part or damaged. It doesn't take be a few seconds to check the part to make sure it right and complete. What ever happen to quailty control? It's now, ship it, if it's the wrong part or damaged, send it back and wait another week or more for the new one. I know somethings can slip though the cracks, but seems like from reading some of the post here on the forum, some vendor have more then they should slip through.
