The house my parents built 30 years ago that i grew up in was purchased by my sister about 13 years ago....my neighbour (from when i lived there) from 3 doors down has a 69 vert he bought this past summer...he moved back home with his parents temp. while he waits for his house to be completed. He brought the car with him. Well two nights ago the garage caught on fire. It totally burnt the garage out as well as the roof above the garage. The Vette was in there also. It is now a pile of melted fiberglass......
Ouch! :nonod: I know it's not any consolation, but did he have insurance to cover it?
By the way.... what does the fiberglass on these C-3's do when fire gets to them? Does it flame up or just melt like you said? Not that I want to find out first hand.
I have been known to wake up at 3 in the morning and go downstairs to the garage and double/triple check I have turned off lights, unplugged drills etc etc .....
Personally I would be glad no one got hurt, but as far as the vette goes, I can't imagine what that guy is feeling right now.
i did not get a close up look ....the garage was filled with junk though...i dont know if he had it appraised but he just bought it at the start of summer from a dealer so he has a bill of sale....

Re: One less 69 in the world.... (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
Tragic loss on both accounts. Thank goodness noone got hurt. Both of those things can be replaced. He may even be able to step up a notch or so with his next vette.
Sorry to hear of his loss. I hope this never happens to anyone, especially me.

it will flame up but once the fiberglass gets warm, its gone. you will have a big flame ball around the car along with a big puddle of what used to be a corvette body

Since I am up all night anyways I always check on the vette on my way by to the kitchen. Call me insane or just paranoid... but anything that requires alot of hands on it now adays needs alot of watching... I mean what if not myself but my father or my uncle left something on while we were doing something to any of our cars... someones gotta keep an eye on the old farts.
