...shoulder belts for my 1967! Only 1,426 1967s had RPO A85 so my car is getting rarer all the time;) . These were made up for me by a small company in California. They arrived late yesterday in time for Christmas. Another project well underway!
Jeff,
It must be a wonderful feeling! The Wife and I bought our house in early December 1975. We moved in December 29. After the down payment, closing and lawyer's fees there was not much money left for furniture. We were newlyweds coming from a one-bedroom apartment. The house was so large.... ;) . December 30 and 31 we painted the entire living and dining room area and pulled up the orange **** rugs  . It was -10F and the latex paint would not dry on the exterior walls. The house stunk. But it was New Year's Eve in our new house so we made due as best we could. Take-out Chinese food and a bottle of cheap wine on top of over-turned cardboard boxes on the floor. Being young and optimistic about the future we did not care. That was as good as it got. Anyone remember headaches from cheap red wine? Ouch!!!
The future did not disappoint us but the Corvette (1979) had to wait until 1986. There were a few little things along the way like a mortgage that took big chunks out of the pay cheques. So the Corvette that was on my mind since the age of 10 had to wait. It eventually came with a $10,000 bank loan in 1986. And many dollars for restoration into the 1990s but you all know that drill so I won't bore you with it.
But we have fond memories of that initial home purchase. So each year on December 31 I purchase a take-out order of Chinese mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) and a bottle of wine (a little up-scale on quality) and we celebrate those modest beginnings of our marriage. We do now eat on a table but after 28 years the magic is still there!
Enjoy that new house! And make the house a home. One is a wood/brick structure; the other is a place you love.
That is a bit of an underestimate. We went from a twin on a busy road ( more of a race track ) to a single on a quiet road in the country.
It's amazing how much difference 5 miles can make.
We had a very simple Christmas. A lady from church gave us a Christmas tree as a house warming present. I cut it down myself. From the field to inside the house in less than a hour.
The other house sold last friday so we're down to one house, one mortgage. Next time I have two mortgages one will be a vacation home in your neck of the woods.
