Default Engine Hood

I have a 1979 Vette and I need to have a spare hood. What year or years can I make work on my car. Anyone have anything for sale?

After finally findin some info I'm think the 77-82 hoods will work on my car. Does that seem correct? I don't wanna buy the wrong one. I'm gonna be needing more clearance and plan to add about a 4 inch cowl to it. Has anyone done this to their hood. Pics would be kewl cause ........well just cause. Have a nice day!

I'd think any year hood without the wiper door would work.

The latch hardware changes in 77. It goes from male latches on the body and the locks and cable on the hood to locks and cable on the body and the striker on the hood. I think you have to have 77-82 although one catalog I have (Chicago) says 73-79 are the same and 80-82 are the same. Another (Corvette Central) says for custom hoods 68-76 is one and 77-82 is another.

And it's because of all this uncertainty that I can't go and order one and have it shipped to Canada. Guess to be safe I should just try and find a 77-82 or should I.

I asked my friend the restorer today and here is what he told me. 77-82 will physically fit. 82 is by itself due to the different air box. Technically 77 is by itself and 78-79 are the same and 80-81 are the same. If you are going to cut it up for a blower or tunnel ram then any 77-82 will work.
