Default Carburetor/Starting issues

I just recently had my engine rebuilt and swapped out the Qjet with a Holly 4175 spreadbore carb. The engine really runs strong now and I'm estimating that it is generating 300+ hp with the upgraded cam, pistons, and carb. The problem I am having though is after the engine is warm it doesn't want to start like it should. It cranks for awhile and then when it starts I get light blue smoke from the exhaust. I took it back to the guy that built it he pulled the top end apart to make sure everything was tight and no valve seals were bad. He called Holly and they told him that the problem was the cast iron intake was causing a "heat draw down" and the gas was being dumped into the back two cylinders and the smoke is from the gas mixing with the oil before it starts. So I swapped out the intake with a Edlebrock performer 2101 and that helped some but I still get this problem every now and then. Did I get a faulty carb or can someone give me some more ideas on what to do or look at? Is this a common problem with Holly? I got this particular carb at the recommendation of the guy that rebuilt the engine. I am totally happy with the performance of the engine other than the starting problem. I certainly don't have a problem keeping up with anyone now. :D :D

Matt, what size spacer? I don't have much room to play with after putting on the Edlebrock intake. What will the spacer do?

Thanks,
Ron
