what's wrong with my car, it won't start
heres the probs..
#1 after about 10 sec of cranking it sounds like my starter and flywheel are clanging
#2 after i let of the ignition a puff of fuel shoots out of the carb i a cloud.
#3 when it did start it wouldn't idle and died, even under throttle
Sounds like there are a couple of things that need to be checked. First of all, the starter and flywheel noise has nothing to do with the carb. It just turns the engine over. You should remove the starter and visually check the flywheel teeth and see if they are damaged, also take the starter to Autozone or any parts store and they can test the starter and solenoid for you and they can check the starter for amp draw. Also charge the battery.
Check the choke, since it been chilly, maybe the choke isn't working right or stuck, this would cause #2 & 3
Just some things to check, may or may not be the problem.
oh well, i need a mini starter anyways
car fired up and idled 950 - 1050, about where i have it set
but after i would hit the throttle and let of she would drop to about 400 rpm and stutter for a few seconds and the come back up to 950-1050. it would do this about every 20 seconds under idle too.
is this just an overly rich condition?
That all I ever do when I start my 73', and it starts right up, I did push the padel twice once, and it start after a few seconds and I could smell the gas.
Anyhoo, you got it started, so go cruising and blow it out. :)
