Dual Mount Spring Installation tips needed.
Many of you might have seen my TRW355# Spring fit problems within Kid Vette's posting, Composite Rear Springs - Why So High?. Anyway, I expect to receive a Dual Mount spring from VanSteel soon and was wondering if anyone have any good tips concerning the installation. If anyone have pics of their installation, that would be great too.
Re: Dual Mount Spring Installation tips needed. (74 vert)
Here is a couple of pics I just took. Mind you, I am just finishing up on a frame off and I have not had it aligned yet. Will call tomorrow for a appointment. My rear fender lip is 27 1/2 inches high. The spring is 1"inch from the rim. You can see what hole I have the tension set in at the moment. Does not ride bad at all with nothing done.
Tell me whatever you need in pics or to measure and I will get it for you.
I installed my VBP perormance plus suspension with the body off so I am no help on the installation. The vette has been tore apart for 4 years but has been on the road again for troubleshooting any bugs, just rattles so far.

Good luck with the install 74 vert. I tossed my C-3 on a 10 day listing at E-bay starting tonight. Off she goes.... maybe! :D

Even with all my spring problems lately :banghead: , I'm looking forward to the Dual Mount. :skep

Probably not related to the spring, but my smart strut bracket around the diff looks to be upside down as compared to Neil's in the pic above. The smart struts were installed on my car when I bought it 1.5 years ago. I wonder why someone installed mine upsidedown? Oh, do you thing I'll have to unbolt the shocks when lowering the diff to get the rear crossmember out?
Re: Dual Mount Spring Installation tips needed. (74 vert)
I jusr finished installing the Performance plus suspension on my car including the dual mount monosprings. I have not driven the car yet but the ride height was the same, even with me setting the spring in the stiffest position. I had the differential crossmember out of the car to drill the holes but I guess you wouldn't have to. In this case the hardest thing might be getting the crossmember down. Just use at least a 6 inch 2 jaw gear puller to pull it down. Make sure the offsets in the brackets point to the front of the car. Very easy installation. Sorry but no pictures. Bill.
Re: Dual Mount Spring Installation tips needed. (74 vert)
I have been reading alot lately about the dual spring and I would really like to go with this spring for several reasons, one of which is the lack of reports of a drastically increased ride height. How does this spring (on its softest setting) feel on the street? I want a softer ride for my normal driving, and are yall running the specially valved shocks or? Thanks.
Good luck with your install! Happy Holidays.
