not to be a bubble buster.... but I think Norvell is right
roof height, seat demintons, 99% of most seats are too wide to fit. the rails also get real tricky.
I watch this thread and wish you good luck

Norval and all - Look at this site chart. My Sparco Ultras fit in a 79.

An ultra fits my 220 lbs 6'1" friend. I'm 5'10" 172 and I fit for hours with a heavy fire suite and jacket.

The seat could actually be wider if I didn't have the big 1 3/4 45 degree door bar
http://www.sparcousa.com/Seat_Dim_Guide.pdf

The Z and X width are the most important for driver comfort

Pat. I had to search also before putting my money down. I also couldn't use the adjustable track assembly.

Pat those seats look great, sorry to hear they don't fit  . I would like to get a set of seats like that so my shoulder belts go thru the seat instead of over it.

BTW, all I got for x-mas was a A/V rack to replace the one my wife doesn't like

I came real close to getting a pair of thoes.. nice units.
However no one in Phoneix has a pair, and If a store orders a set I have to pay for it weither I fit in them or not.
from decriptions of another vendor the sparko will fit into the vett, but not for a big boy like myself.
IM 6' 250 with wide shouders and a 40" waist. My only option avabile to me was going wiht a pair of 79-82 seats.

good luck

Thats a bummer. As soon as I saw the seats and the price I said this has got to be too good to be true. And sure enough, you stated later that they don't fit. Bummer, but at least you tried.

Pat, how wide are the new seats? My Sparco's are really wide and I was surpriced to see them fit my 79 with out any modifications needed. They are very tight fit but in the end they do fit.

groovyjay - Refresh my memory as to which sparco seats you went with?

I got the cheaper Ultras because I was doing a big project all at once and I had to cut some corners some where.

I did the roll cage, seats, 5 point harness, and have the whole rear stripped out and reapolstered with fire proofing in a two week period.

I'm happy with mine except for limiting the vision off of my left shoulder. The way I'm strapped in the seat and the bars are limiting. I really need a rear view full width mirror

I'm running pair of Milano's and the chart on Sparco's websites states that the widest part of these seats, which is the shoulder section is 22" wide....

Sorry to hear they don't work. I know Mark70 installed some Corbeau seats on his awesome '70. I did a search but couldn't find his install pics but ran accross other Corbeau users. Looks like the A4's are the way to go, but in some of the text they say the seats sit higher than stock. Not what I'm looking for.

Pat my seat is non folding. Originally I bought two. But i need rear access. Non folding are safe and prevent back injury.

So I actually have my stock 79 passenger seat.

I never go fast with another person anyway. Well maybe 150 or so just to run it up on a track or a straight line.

Sparco seats are sold through dealers. My seat is mounted flush to the floor and as far back is possible on home made steel brackets.

I really can hardly reach to the lower dash to hit toggle switches for fans, wipers, lights, tranny lockups.

Once you cross the line it's not a car that you drive to the store any more.

This is me - racing this year - roll cage - blowing smoke off of the 315/17/35 tires at 60- 70 mph onto the main straight
