Lar's paper skipped over this one, but either side of this number are both 69's. Maybe someone will know.
EDIT:
70=pre-1976
29= 1969
2=49-state
1=Chevrolet
2=Automatic transmission (even number)
If I had to guess it's for a 69 396/427 automatic transmission.

According to my info, I show that as a 1968 that came on the following engines:
Passenger 327/250hp 327/275hp AT
Chevelle 327/250hp 327/275hp AT
Chevy II 327/275hp AT 350/295hp AT
Camaro 327/275hp AT 350/295hp AT
Passenger 327/250hp 327/275hp AT
Chevelle 327/250hp 327/275hp AT
Chevy II 327/275hp AT 350/295hp AT

It is not an original "corvette" carb #, but likely a perfect substitute for the corvette carb.
