I inherited Bubba's velour disco interior in my 74 coupe. All the interior pieces were covered with this stuff. I haven't tried to remove it yet. Is it possible to recover the interior trim pieces with more original look material. BTW, I want my car to look nice, but it will never be 100% NCRS or whatever it is. Thank you Pat
You can buy seat covers to recover the original seats, Door trims, consoles, carpets..... probably everything to restore the interior. Al Knoch is good. There may be other suppliers, maybe even supporting vendors around.

I would like to re-cover some of my parts like the dash panel and console, but I can't find a source for the stretchy vinyl that is used on these parts. It looks like some kind of foam or something.
The console and E-brake console are not really re-coverable, the left and right dash pads probably are not really recoverable either. You can buy covers for the upper dash pad, but I have not heard good things about those. You are probably better off to buy the shift console and E-brake console new and buy used dash pads RH/LH from Ebay or a swap meet. Good upper dash pads are expensive, but new is probably best here too-the speaker grille holes tend to get brittle over time. 68-69 are the same but without the speaker holes. They tend to hold up better overall through the years.
I think if you could identify the material used, any of these parts could be recovered. It's just some kind of stretchy vinyl that is glued down obn the edges. I would like to make some things like a new rear console that don't exist or can't be bought on Ebay. I see street rod guy's doing this every day (matching seats from a Camaro etc.). I found a source for "expanded vinyl", but I don't know what that is.

I had my dash recovered when I converted it to RHD,the upholsterer used a vinyl that I picked out,not stretchy, they use a hair dryer to soften the vinyl,& then it stretches a lot easier.
I also had the dash recovered after the RHD conversion.
The company I used has a vacuum forming tank. They apply the contact adhesive to both pieces, place the dash in the vacuum tank and pull the vinyl over it using the vacuum and heat. It comes out looking pretty good. The vinyl is thin with no threads on the back to allow it to stretch. Comes in gray only, but different grains to match, and then they paint it to match the rest of the interior.
