Default body lift

I have a 1977 and I an replacing the body mounts. Do I have to remove the
front and rear bumpers before lifting the body 4-6 inches?

Thanks

Yup ... and likely mess them up. If the plastic bumpers don't crack,
then you'll probably snap some of the retainer studs. It's a good time to
consider fiberglass bumpers.

You might be able to:
Leave the rear plastic cover in place, and remove all the metal bumper and
support parts. Easier said than done.

Likewise, the front bumper brackets that bolt to the frame horns *"CAN"* be
unbolted with the front bumper in place. However, the whole front bumper
structure MUST be supported - or the weight will tear the front plastic cover
apart (THIS I KNOW).

The easiest way is to cut away the old covers and go fiberglass, but try
getting your covers off first. Start with the rear -- much easier than the front.
