"Signguy: I feel for ya man...everything said seems correct, check both h & v alignment, check that none of the tranny bolts have backed out of the bellhousing."

thanx man...
the bolts...ALL bolts are nice and snug...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You did put in a pilot bushing of course?...who was it in the boards that was going to do a tranny swap and just not do a pilot bushing? I'm sure it wasnt you."

yes i did...i installed the pilot BEARING that comes with the kit...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You might also check to see if the driveshaft is correctly balanced. Your slip yoke seems an excessive amount outside the tailshaft of the trans...how much engagement do you have?"
On mine the back of the slip yoke is about a pinky's width from the lip of the seal, you've got at least an inch or slightly more....

i ASSUME that its balanced...
being a new kit and all i would assume that it is balanced...
yes...the slipyoke seems a little far out to me too...
i cant really say for sure how much is inside...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm counting my blessings now that mine went right in, I shimmed the tranny @ the rear mount 1/4" and everything is golden, with no interferance with the parking brake cable or vibration at any speed.

im jealous! i want mine to be right too!
oh well...im sure it will be...it seems that everything with my car takes more to get it right...

what do you guys know about "mating" pressure plates and clutch discs?
the clutch in it had about 2000 miles on it and had only worn about 3/4" to 1" around the outside perimeter and not at all inside of that...
so when i installed the 5 speed, i swapped the disc with one that i had "on the shelf" because it was actually in better shape...but i used the same pressure plate...
is this ok to do?

Thats pretty low mileage and as such I would think it would be ok. if it were higher mileage I would worry about missmatched wear patterns...now that I think of it though, I have replaced clutch disks in the past without replacing the pressure plate or resurfacing the flywheel, and had no problems....
