Default $14,100 & counting....

Just an update where my vette stands on E-bay. It hasn't made the reserve, but at least gives me some idea of the market so far. Ends Sunday afternoon.

It's a shame to sell it. It's a good looking car. :cry

Didn't you just buy it a few months back?

I've only had it about 6 months. Priorities in life sometimes change and it just sits in the garage, so she goes if someone divies up the reserve.

That would look too  sitting next to Cali-2 but Mrs. Cali would have an absolute coniption (spel?). Good luck with the sale. Hope this doesn't mean you're going to leave the forum?

Barry, buy the C5 after you sell the (much better) C3 and you can be our token C5 guy to rag on. I kinda want to say bad luck on the sale so that you keep it....do you REALLLLY want to sell it? Get out there and listen to that chambered exhaust and then go listen to a C5 and hopefully you'll change your mind. :p:
At the very least you've got to replace it with another vette. :D

I hate to admit it, but I have no plans on partaking in the C-5 board on this forum. I'll probably hang around here with an *anonymous* signature. :D

I actually wish someone in the Houston area would end up with it. That way they can come look at it and see it first hand instead of shipping it off to someone for their first look. That's why I listed every nit picky thing I could think of that was wrong, so I don't have someone coming back saying I didn't mention that the *oil dipstick* was not the right one. Yep... I added that last night.

And actually the bidding jumped right afterwards. The hard part is not driving it for now. I'm just starting it up every 3 days and letting it warm up. Then... cover it back up after it cools down.

David,

I hate selling things this expensive..... especially a vette this old. I figured I would be screwing myself giving out this much information, but so far I guess not.

And we are up to $14,600. Although I am not giving out the reserve on E-bay that puts it within $900 as I set it at $15,500. How did I come up with that number? I *Winged It* of course, but the NADA guide shows this vette with a retail of $19,850 in good condition(this vette is probably better) and then I discounted it 20% to come up with $15,880. I then set it a little below that. Don't ask me how I came up with that formula, but $15,500 pretty much gets me out at break even minus my time of course. Anything beyond that is a bonus and just more money I can apply to a C-5.

Right now I'd say I have a better than even chance at waving :seeya to this vette and move on.

Just tired of working on cars? I feel that sometimes. Just want to go to the garage and hop in and drive. No mechanical work just waxing?

David,

The newest car/truck I have owned in the last 20 years is a 1988 BMW 750IL so I think it's time I get out of the stone ages. Not that I can say the BMW was not high tech as it was. It had more bells & whistles than most new American cars these days do. And you could get inside and close the door and like nothing else around existed as it was so well built that you could hear nothing from the outside. Well.... maybe a Harley.

$14800..... :D

And yes... I really just don't have the enthusiasm I used to on fixing car stuff. Extended warranty here I come.

Montana,

The price is still sitting at $14,800. I don't expect any movement (if there is) for a couple of days. Too much booze to drink tonight and too much football tomorrow for anyone to be shopping for a vette. I agree with above that if there are any serious buyers they will be in at the end and not with 4-5 days left. Why drive up the price if you don't have to? I would like it to get to the reserve with a couple of days left as that way everyone knows the bottom line then. Right now some may be just fishing to see where it is. That's what I want.... sold before the auction ever ends. The final number is the only question then. I posted the auction in an earlier thread, but here it is again.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6168

(Edited part.... and soon as I post this answer up we go to $15,000.)
