Default My first real drive since August!!!

Man, I love that feeling of getting to drive my vette around :D . It doesn't happen too often for me at the rate I fix things  . Anyway, after I FINALLY got my carburetor up and running thanks to a few tips from our fellow members, I had to take the car out for a spin! So it's dark out and 45 degrees . . . who cares, sounds like driving weather to me  . Now I can finally comment on my reflectix install :yesnod: . Here's some things I noticed on my car:

1) The carb seems to run great! Better than I've ever seen it. Except I have what seems like a bog between 0-25 MPH, then around 30 MPH, it picks up the pace quite a bit. And when I open the secondaries (I think) the car seems to fall on it's face . . . RPMs jump up but I don't really go anywhere fast. Then I notice a bit of a jerk when I let off the gas a bit and the RPMs fall back down.

2) The new air dam I installed works great!! Temp never went above that mark between 100 and 200 degrees. What is that, 160? That's what my themostat is. I'm running an aluminum radiator from a late 80s camaro with a direct drive fan on my engine. I put the radiator in and the fan came that way.

3) The reflectix seems to really do the trick for temperature. There was no noticable difference in road noise, but the floor panels and under-seat area remained at ambient temperature the whole time. The transmission tunnel was a little warm near the feet area, but I think that's beacause I actually had the heat on inside the car to make it comfortable. :) I did not insulate back in the cargo area, only the seat and foot well area and the transmission tunnel.

What to do next . . . hmm

What to do next?

Get that carb tuned to run better, then drive the hell out of it... :steering:

Glad to hear your back on the road.
