That's definitely purty with the clean frame. A question.... do you just have the sidepipes mocked up or are you planning on dropping the body on with them intact?
Re: Put the Engine back in this weekend (Winging It)
I just slid them on for the pic.
I expect it will be a year or more before I am ready to put the body back on. I will have plenty of time to pick the brains of the forum users about setting it back on.
How did you get the rear shocks installed befor putting the engine in? My spring was so high they would stretch out long enough to meet the bolt holes at the top. Is there a trick to this?
Btw - Nice sidepipe setup!
Looks like the weather in FL is bout the same as in Houston. When out cars are back together we can go for a cruise and describe it to our friends up north.
Re: Put the Engine back in this weekend (noskillz)
Yea noskilz.... I am all for that cruise that you were talking about. You know... I keep reading about these guys parking their vettes over the winter, I see NO reason :D to park a great ride just because it gets below 50 degrees.
:chill: Just kidding my northern friends!
About the shocks....take a look at the first picture. In the garage, you will see a stack of sandblasting sand. I stacked a dozen bags of sand on the rear end of the frame (about 600 lbs). which pretty much lined everything up.
Looks great! I should be finished blasting my frame and ready to apply POR15 in a couple of weeks. Did you have to prep the POR15 in any way before topcoating to get the topcoat to stick? I bought the Chassis Black topcoat from POR but I think I like the look of the satin paint better.
Re: Put the Engine back in this weekend (VetteNut72)
I brushed on the POR15 and let it dry (twice), went to Home Depot and bought 6 cans of paint and one of those little paint can triggers. Then just sprayed away.
I looked at the Chassis black but it was just a bit too shiny.
