Grinding cast iron?
What grinding tips to use on a cast iron exhaust manifold? The usual grinding stones? I have a carbide cutter ($$) that I used on an aluminum intake but am afraid to screw that tip on cast iron.
stone's or finer cutter's than alum. stone's take a little longer but don't grab
as much(take off) they also leave a nicer finish after first cut, are you porting
or dressing-up (detailing)
I would use a burr in my die grinder for this job. I thought you were trying to polish the outside. The burr cuts quickly. Cast iron is soft unless it is white cast iron and that can not be cut. Yours is probably nodular cast iron, a very soft material.
Looks like the same bumps I have in my 69 big block. Except yours do not have the air pump injector tube coming through them like mine. You're lucky. Grind them off unless you plan to install an air pump.
