Ahh, now don't poke at the N.C.R.S. folks. I appreciate their efforts even though they'd never appreciate mine!
My point exactly!
I'm all for preserving certain cars, but others, like mine, are no longer numbers matching cars. A previous owner of my Vette cracked the original L48 block. Rather than throw away or part out an otherwise great car it's purpose is now "fun". Currently an '85 L98 hopefully soon to be 383, 406 or maybe 454, plus a TH400 already in place is a serious performance car in the making.
I guess my feeling is with so many Vettes in the world there are those that should be restored and preserved for their significance, and then there are others, like mine, that are perfectly fine, but better suited for mechanical upgrade. I picked mine because it was nice looking and in nice shape and it's a "driver". I wanted to have fun and not worry so much. That's why I didn't buy a real "show car". I'd never take a '63 split to the track, but my driver is nice enough that I can show it in certain categories.
Re: Signguy - window sticker I want (Corvette_fetish)
I would take a couple if someone made them. And I would pay 'shipping and handling' ;)
I agree with Corvette_Fetish that some cars should be preserved, but unrare cars like mine are just fun to modify, if I ever got any money. To him his own. :chevy
But I was looking for more of a tongue in cheek award sticker.
How about this one.
It would be harder to get than a Top Flight.
To qualify:
Must first attain a judging score of not more than 20% out of 100 based on an original "as manufactured" standard at a National or Regional NCRS event.
Must not have any unmodified Engine, Drivetrain, Suspension, Steering or Braking components.
Must have part of the engine protruding from the hood.
Must have at least 100 pounds of metal removed from the car by drilling of holes.
I could wear any one of those badges with pride. I would give heart failure to anyone attempting to judge my car for correctness.
I like it that way.

And if you want to give heart failure to anyone attempting to judge your car, go to a meet and HAVE it judged. Just tell them you are planning a NCRS restoration and need to know what isn't correct. :D
