Default New guy needs a little advice please.

Greetings

I bought a 75 Stingray about 7 months ago and have been restoring it up to mint condition. I'm not looking so much for originality, engine has been worked and it has a set of hooker sidepipes which I love. My problem is the interior color which originally was silver. The previous owner changed the seats and console color to that of a 77, smoke grey I guess. He called it to me something like dovetail grey or doveskin grey but any site or catalog I look in there's only smoke grey. I'm looking to order a bunch of new interior parts console, dash, door panels...etc but I'm concerned about them matching my seats. They are a medium grey kinda of like the color of a Naval vessel maybe a hair lighter, is this the smoke grey? i wish I had a picture to post. My second question is could I order interior parts for a 77 which I'm hoping match my new seats and install them in my 75? Was there any major changes?, the door panels look the same but the dash lower, upper, left, and right....I don't know. When I look at the catalogs the pictures all look the same. I don't particularly care for the silver I like the grey or smoke grey, I'm hoping I can do this and just by 77 interior parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Least Cost. If your current parts are in serviceable condition why not respray them? That way you can get whatever color you want. The parts have to be cleaned, and there are "primers" to help with the adhesion of the final paint.

Ecklers (etc) has the materials in their catalog.

If your parts are not serviceable, then why not just order a couple of (different) parts in the colors you think might be correct. When you order the parts tell the vendor what you are doing, and that the parts that don't color match will be returned (to be replaced with the correct colors). This way you are only out shipping.

I would paint the old trim. Some "new" parts may not fit as well or be as high a quality as your original parts.

Thanks mapman I'll look into just respraying certain components, however my door panels are pretty shot as well as my windshield trim, and they appear to be the same as those in the 77. I think I'll be able to match those up, I also checked around online and my seat color is definitely smoke grey. The center console I think changed from 75-76 to 77.

Thanks again
