Thanks to the folks at Summit and Fed-Ex it looks like I'll have something to do this weekend, now that the local Pro Football team eliminated themselves from the playoffs last week.
Now if "Brown" would show up and deliver those alternator and brake parts, and I found someone to bring me food and beer out there, I could spend the entire weekend in the garage.
Watch that adjustable vacuum advance. I found when I installed one that it has a total advance of 28 degrees. Add that to the 26 or so degrees from the mechanical advance, and the total is way too much for just about any engine. They give you a stop plate to install that limits the total advance, but you may have to grind on it a bit to get it to fit in the distributor housing, depending on the distributor
OK per BlueL36's request, Here are some pictures I took when doing the Unilite conversion.
Picure of the distributor still in the vette. For noting the position of the rotor and vacuum advance.
Distributor with points, condensor and ignition wire removed.
Distributor with Unilite module and trigger wheel installed.
I changed the advance springs, attached the rotor and reinstalled the distributor in the engine so its position matched the first picture. I didn't get a chance to try it because the alternator has been removed for rebuilding.
