my mechanic has a perfectly good corvette 427 out of a '69 sittin in the corner of his shop that he took out of some lunatic's car that wanted a "racing engine"...I offered him $1000 for it not even thinking. is it feasable to put it in my 1970 which was originally an LT-1?
Sounds like you don't have the original motor anyway... go for it! The 427 is my favorite chevy BB.
:iagree:
Put 454 badges and decals on it if it makes you feel better. You are virtually assured to have at least as much and probably more horsepower than any of the other 454s if comparing stock to stock and in decent running condition.
New springs, new pulleys, new water pump, radiator?, fuel line, etc, etc. Does the engine have the carb, intake manifold, all of the vacuum fittings, and such?
If you have the original 370hp LT1 engine in your car, you might be surprised at how great an engine that really is.

Do you have the original LT-1 hood? They are the same as the BB hoods, but with the LT-1 logo. If you don't, there will be clearance problems with the SB hood.
I don't have the original LT-1. wish I did. otherwise I might just keep it. but it is a 350 that no one can tell me anything about (what it is out of, how much power) if I end up getting the 427 I will probably wait a while to put it in....I love the hooker sidepipes I have on it and don't want to get ride of them. especially because they are getting ceramic coated right now. thanks for all the feed back
