Default correct part number alternator for an 80

Hi all.
Can anyone offer any advice about where to get hold of a serviceable and correct alternator for my 1980? I would like to get the right part number and i'm not fussed if it needs a rebuild, as i plan to upgrade the internals anyway.
I'm led to believe the right number for my options is 1101075, 70Amps. The one on her at the moment is underpowered and on its last legs.
I'm in the UK, so dropping by the junkyard is not really an option! Any helpful info would be appreciated...

Cheers folks!

Theo, I replaced mine a couple months ago. Not exactly sure based on options which one was in your car, but here is the part number I was given, 1103122 which was replaced with part number 1979865, 63A. The unit I put in was a rebuild AC Delco and I found it at my local Chevy Dealer (www.courtesydealers.com 407-857-5700). It has been working fine with plenty of charging power. Looks brand new.

1980 Alternator Part Numbers from the NCRS guide book for 1980-1982:

1102484 - 42 amp - Base Application
1102474 - 61 amp - C60 (Air Conditioning Manual Control)
1103122 - 63 amp - C60 (Air Conditioning Manual Control)
1101041 - 70 amp - 1st Production
1101075 - 70 amp - 2nd Production

The Corvette Black book lists:
1101041
1101075
1101085
1101088
1103122

Not sure why there is a discrepancy between these two sources.

Thanks guys -
Dk Grn,
If i can get hold of the correct number alt, I'd sooner do that. My car isn't totally "numbers correct" by any stretch (the engine and drivetrain are though), but I'd like to maintain as much originality as possible, which would be useful if I ever get round to a proper restoration :)

Mapman, Thanx for the numbers, you've confirmed what I thought, I need to find a #1101075 for my car.

So can anyone suggest a supplier for it?

The catalogs (ZIP, etc) I have looked at have "correct numbered" alternators for cars only up to the mid 70's. Perhaps a trip to Corvettes at Carlisle?

You might try calling ZIP, Paragon, etc. They sometimes have parts no listed in their catalogs. Try some of the Corvette junkyards (internet search). Sorry, not much help.

Yep, I've seen those correct alts in zip, ecklers etc...

I may get on the phone to some of the junkyards next. My main problem is having to ship to the UK...

Hi Theo,
Have you tried any of the UK dealers? When I fried my starter motor, Ray at Corvette Kingdom supplied a replacement within a couple of days.

Yeah, Ray can always be relied upon to sort you out.
But I don't know if you noticed above - I'm making this job more difficult for myself (!) by trying to get hold of an alt with the correct part number, i.e an original one off an 80, rather than a generic rebuilt 12SI. I don't mind a used one, since I would like to have a go at refurbing it anyway..

I'll probably still give Ray a go though, he may have a breaking 80 to rob bits off.
