Flareside got me motivated.
Seeing Joe rip apart his '68 in the middle of a snow storm got me a little psyched. So I did accomplish something Vette related this weekend. Wife even let me paint on the kitchen table. Pass me the nitroglycerin tablets. :lolg:

You got more on the floor than you did on the part! I guess your hands were cold.
What prep is involved in using that product?
No prep on these pipes as were new. I went over them with some mineral spirits to remove any oil & such. Paint one coat, wait 24hrs and apply another if you want. Wait another 24 hours until you use them. It'll be a lot longer than 24hrs for mine though.
The paint "cures" once you have the engine running for about 15 min. I used this same can on my SB manifolds 3 years ago and they still look great.
Don't tell my wife, but I baked my manifolds in the oven last weekend. Mine probably won't be running till next summer, so I wanted to cure them. Only got a little smell, but I turned on the exhaust fan. Probably killed a few birds where the vent pipe comes out the roof.

Re: Flareside got me motivated. (Flareside)
Yeah, you're right Joe, the 454 is pretty much finished. I have the intake & carb to go which will take practically no time at all. If it were warm enough in the garage, I could finished hooking up the M-22. I got itchy today and just had to do something Vette related beside buying more parts for the garage.
I'm going to use these stock manifolds hooked up to a '69 factory side exhaust setup. I'm hoping this will cause the fewest problems and headaches during the initial install.
I saw a post by MasterDave a while back and how he had several exhaust setup he uses. I have about the same, I'll have the '69 side exhaust setup, then I may try the Hooker Super Comps hooked up to a Chambered system and I'm trying to get a set of used Hooker sidemounts to eventually try out.

What a woman!!! Your manifolds turned out nicely. Good job.
Yeah, but I had to go to a "home-show" at the convention center yesterday to paint on the table today. The price we must pay.
The paint actually dries very flat. The pic was taken right after I painted, that's why it looks glossy. :chevy
