There is a switch that is attached to my gas pedal that gets activated at full throttle (almost like a brake light switch) What in the world is this and what does it do?
It is a kickdown for a TH400 automatic. Either your car started life as an automatic or has the accelerator pedal from one. Or what he said-on a 73 up it opens the cowl door.
I'm pretty sure its always been a 4 spd. But there is a build sheet on the tank still so I guess I'll know when I drop the tank. It seems reasonable though that it's for the flap although my hood does'nt have a flap :)
The flapper is in the cowl section of the hood under the grill near the windsheild, it may have been removed. Mine was not functioning so I removed it along with the cylinoid, better to fresh air all the time anyways.
