Default Fresh air supply questions

Does anyone have any experience with making a half/whole mask air supply for painting? I am trying to figure out a way to build one so I can blast and paint my vette in the garage, but buying a complete set-up is out of the question right now. I was thinking about using a large "squirel cage" type fan that would blow into some PVC pipe and out into a tube that would be attached to a mask or hood. I figure as long as I have a supply of lightly pressurized clean air I should be fine, right? Any input would be appreciated.

Simple solution is a scuba tank, a cheap garage sale regulator and a regulator hose for an air bouy. That gives you about 30 to 45 feet of hose, more than 1 hour worth of air per tank.

Tank fills are like 2.50 or 3 bucks at your local dive shop.
