If you want to put a CD player in the dash you will need to cut the opening and put a DIN style radio in. There are no in dash CD players that fit without modification.
while you're at it, get a deck that is also MP3 compatible so you can turn that single CD player into a 50+ disk changer (about 150+ songs fit on a single CD-R in MP3 format). :D

Re: Single CD Player for my 81 (Fast81)
I just put a Pioneer 8400 in mine. It plays MP3, WMA and CDs. It is also an XM controller. I think it will suffice for a while. What ever you choose, compare pricing on the internet. There is a big difference in price.
:iagree: Just finished an Alpine CDA-9811 install. It sounds awesome, plays MP3,WMA & XM ready. I stuck a boom box behind the seats and 2 amps with about 70 watts rms and if I turn it up it can stop your heart. :D

Re: Single CD Player for my 81 (Fast81)
I have a nice alpine CD player in my truck. It plays MP3 and WMA (Windows media player) and has a remote. Click here to see it
In my Vette is a Blaupunkt CD player, I only got it because it came in red, to match the car. It has a steering wheel mounted remote.
Too bad they don't make this anymore --
Check out the new Mid America catalog. They have center gauge consoles that are made for CD players, with and without CD players in them already. That way you could save the stock gauge console for later reinstall. BTW, I like Pioneer head units.

:iagree: I didn't think this would be too important when I got my new stereo for my B-Day... but pretty much all I have listened to is a CD full of MP3's.

Unless I just plain overlooked it, I didn't see the panel available without the radios. I was looking in the first couple pages of new products in the 2004 catalog.
