When I did mine, I greased up everything, The bolt, frame pocket (sides where the shims fit against) and a light coating on the shims. Didn't want anything rusting together again. :yesnod: :yesnod:
Butch,
Look in your AIM and see what the factory used (if anything). The trailing arm bolt may not be designed to have any lube because then the inside of the bushing would piviot on the bolt. I may be wrong but the AIM will tell you how to install it with the proper torque and any lube if needed. I may lightly coat mine with some C5A anti-seize when I get around to doing mine.
:smash:
Definitely grease the hell out of all that stuff. Those who have pulled apart
the rusty junk from there will know. Be careful with lubes that can attack the rubber
bushings, though.
I'm in thr process of having my T-arms rebuilt (Vansteel, of course). I am going to paint the inside of the frame in the T-arm cavity with POR-15, rub the exposed rubber bushing with silcone grease, and lubricate the bolt with anti-seize. After assembly, I'm going to spray the nut/cotter key/exposed bolt threads with KANO Weatherpruf rust preventer.
