A buddy of mine sent me an email today wanting some information on Stroker kits for a 350 he has. Here's what he sent:
I took the pan off of my spare 350 and noticed it's a 2-bolt main. I was just curious if I should still peruse building a 383 stroker out a 2-bolt foundation. Although the article you had you had a while back about the junk engine loaded with NOS held up to 500+ HP and I think it was a two bolt main.
Do you have any connections with real motor heads( not shade tree) that could give me some insight on building a 383 and if it's worth building one out of a 2-bolt?
Here's the kit I'm looking at. I think I'll have to get some minor machine work done for clearance. Although the third bulleted item mentions a small base circle cam required for clearance. So I may not have to have any machine work.
I think your friend would be alright with 2 bolt mains it's just going to be a mild street motor. But, I think you can have a 2 bolt main turned into a 4 bolt main, I think it's called "splayed" main caps  I'm also pretty sure that your friend will have to run both a small base circle cam and have clearancing done on the block. I bought my 383 as a crate motor so I didn't get into too many of the details
