Default Opinion on New Product?

Custom Breather Cover

If you are one of the many Corvette owners who like to show off that pride
and joy at car shows and outside exhibits, then you know the dangers that
sun damage can do to the hood of your precious antique.

Most owners have been using an old towel to cover the breather cover for
years. The "No Reflection Custom Cover" can be used on most vintage C1, C2
and C3 Corvettes. So stop throwing a towel at the problem and buy a "No
Reflection Custom Cover".

It solves an age-old problem that now has a simple fix. It protects your
hood from getting burned by the reflection of the sun off your chrome air
breather cover. This product can save you thousand in repairs, like the cost
of a new hood and paint job. This product will give your engine compartment
and your vintage car a look of class and you peace of mind. For more
information, contact Rhonda Kay or checkout http://www.1nrcc.com

im sorry to offend any one here, but Com'on! give me a break. That has got to be one of the bigger money gimmics ive ever seen.

I live in arizona with bright sun all day. I would be more concerned about underhood temps cooking the clear coat off with the hood closed.

JMHO

cheers

I'm sorry if I offend you but it is not to be used for when your hood is down! It is for people who enjoy showing off there pride and joy and leave there hoods up, which can if you were unaware, burn a hole in your hood from the reflection off your air cleaner. Haven't you ever wondered why you see towels over these at car shows! :D

I see the purpose and can see some owners buying it. I myself like to show off the chrome and willing to take the risk while others will not. Even though I personally wouldn't buy one doesn't mean it's not a good idea or that it will not sell. If I had a Bloomington Gold car, I would buy one. :yesnod:

Best of luck

i can see how if the sun were to be magnified, like through a magnifying glass it could burn things...
but burning a hole through your hood from the REFLECTION... :bs

To be fair, yes I have seen the towels at car shows. Never knew what they were for until now. I am intrigued but your link does not work.

Good idea for a product! :yesnod: I've seen the damage caused to the paint on somebody's hood at a show when the sun reflects off of a chrome carburetor filter cover onto the underside of the hood.

Not for everybody, perhaps, but a great idea for folks who show their Corvettes.

come on...so your telling me that if you open your hood for a few hours, you can ruin your paint or worse, put a hole in your hood...?

so if i park my Vette beside another at a show, the sun reflecting of my chrome rims will ruin the paint on the car beside me?

If you are going to cover it up anyways why not just buy one that does not reflect?

Besides its not what it looks like under the hood it is what your arz end looks like when you fly by! :auto:

Yes in the sig it does. But I have never heard of this concern before. Is this a variation of the "leaving your eyeglasses on a seat" problem? I have seen fires from that!

Snot :bs ,
One of our club members will not put his hood up at shows anymore because he has had to repaint it 3 times. the aircleaner actually focusses the suns beams on a tight point and can burn through the hood! it is a concave mirror.

Chad, look closely at the concave area of the air cleaner lid, the recess where the wing nut is for the carb stud. That area acts as a nice magnifying glass to focus and intensify the reflected sunlight up onto the underside of the opened hood. I have seen more than one C3 with a 3 to 4 inch long discolored stripe on the hood from the effects of this. It's not :bs

I will be quite candid: I have never seen this problem before. But I do not see the heat experienced in the Southern USA. The vendor is from Georgia and perhaps this is a real issue for some owners in the South.

New one for me, too. Hey - it's zero here right now, so it's the last thing on my mind.
However, I DO recognize the testimony of respected members here to
justify the need (for some people - at least).

You learn something new everyday. :seeya

Yes Frank towels are a lot cheaper, but if it is windy at all, they might blow off, somebody might move it to have a better look at the motor or take the towel to wipe their hands on! :lolg:
I didn't check the pricing but there is definitely a market for this item. I just don't know how big that market is.
Oh and Rhonda, the big chrome bit on the top is not a "breather". It is the "Aircleaner lid" or "Aircleaner assembly"
