Default Factory Style Side Exhaust Muffler questions

I have ordered a set of factory style side exhaust covers from Paragon for my 69 convertible.

From the information that I have found, it seems that a 3" side pipe is the largest that will fit under these covers (and that is with spacers).

The smallest spiral baffel seems to be for a 3.5" pipe so that is not an option.

Any suggestions/experience on what kind of muffler/insert I could run?

I am going to have a set of Stahl headers built and the engine that I am now having built is a 434 cu. in. small block with a pretty decent size solid roller. I am hoping to make around 525 hp.

Thanks for any help, Eric.

RPM muffler in Hayward, CA makes Lobak spiral mufflers and I think they might be able to help you. Try giving them a call at (510) 783-3714 or 783-3712 (plus they're down the street from Vic Hubbard's Speed&Marine so you can get all your other parts on the way back to the freeway!) I think I recall getting a set for some Stahl side exhausts there but it was several years ago, Good Luck!

What's wrong with the '69 stock chambered side exhaust pipes? They are oval shaped so they fit in the space nicely. I think I saw them in Eckler's. Heck, if you are springing the $1500 or so for the factory chrome side exhaust covers then why not spend the $300 for the factory chambered side exhaust pipes? Mine sound awesome!

Eric. Actually given time and money, and more of the latter, you can probably get just about anything under 69 repro covers. I do have a 3.0" baffle, but for your "big" small block I'd suggest at least 3.5".......... :yesnod: :yesnod:
