Man who owned this car recently passed away. Widow wants to sell. It is a white convertible with a white hardtop. 350 / auto. Car has been stored indoors. Anyone have an realistic idea on what this car should sell for?
It has 112 actual miles.
If the milage is verifiable and the condition reflects good storage, that's a fairly valuable car. Just how valuable is hard to say, since I wouldn't think there'd be a whole lot of similar cars that have sold recently. That's the sort of vehicle that really needs to be sold at auction at one of the big collector car auctions like Hemmings. My wild guess would be it would auction off at something in the neighborhood of $40K. Probably not driveable as is--will need some work, rubber replaced, etc. to be roadworthy.
So it was never...... ever..... driven? How does one document that? If true, (and I find it hard to believe) it would have some value as a museum piece, maybe some value for somebody that would enjoy campaigning the car as a survivor and a bowtie candidate, but would not be a good choice for anyone that wants to drive. :) MJ
Thanks JB , Miles are verifiable. I would not attempt to drive car. It has all documentation. I have first option to buy car at 24.000
I in turn already have prospect to buy from me, but need advice on realistic value. I suppose what anyone is willing to give. You bring up a good point about the hugh end auctions.
Dang, she told me $25,000. Why is this car not sitting in your Garage!!! Give her a deposit tomorrow or tonight. If you don't have the cash, then broker it to another person and make some extra cash.
for instance.....my mom's car...a '63 Olds F85 with alumunum 215 ci V8 and automatic 4 dr.....30 years later with about 35k miles on it....had sat for damn near 20 years in mom's garage....door open once in a while, and sunlight from mornings in the window....
seat upholstry redone in non matching material some 20 years earlier....
ok, car brought 1800 bux....that's it....
paint shot/faded/spiderwebbed in white top area.....brown body was all dull and so forth....
underside so rusted the exhaust was about to fall off.....
engine ran great, tranny even shifted.....
BUT the brakes were shot through and through....
now, since that was an enclosed area....inside....for all that time span...you think for one minit that vette is in much better shape....
not on a bet, not without looking at it closely first....
If the mileage is correct????? (usually if it seems to good to be true, it usually isn't true) Buy it at once!!!!! what are you waiting for ???? Things sometimes happen with deals, they disappear if you don't act immediatedly. If you think it is correct "BUY IT NOW" !!!! You'll have plenty of time to fiqure out how much you can make later. BUY IT and list it for sale everywhere you can, but BUY IT !!!!!
This is the kind of car someone like "Corvette Mike" out in CA could give you advice about. It's got to be very valuable (if everything you say is true). I wouldn't make a move until I spoke with several pros like him. By the way, I don't know where to reach these people... :)
Forum member RLH has a very low mileage 72 bigblock coupe - listed at 1700 original miles in his sig. He should have an idea of the value and rarity of extremely low mileage 70/71/72 vettes. :) MJ
Re: Found 1971 convertible 112 miles (1970 Stingray)
I will bet you that there are still a bunch of '78 Pace Cars that are out there with very little if any miles on them. They are out there in heated garages, barns, etc. I think that half of them were bought by collectors who had no intention of ever driving them. Every once in a while, one will pop up.
There was a 71 SB non-air Vert at Bloomington last year in the Special Collection with just delivery miles. I still say why? Enjoy the car, not even that good an investment. If you had put $6k in a passbook savings account for 33+ years you would have probably done better than on that car. If you had put it in a decent stock or mutual fund even better. What if you had bought $6k of Microsoft or Wal Mart in 71? On this car if it isn't rusted from condensation and the interior is not rotten then it is probably worth in the $40s I would think. Probably need a complete rebuild to make it driveable. If it's half decent though I would still own it tonight at $25k. Good luck.

Bill gates was still in high school then and hadn't ripped Steve Jobs off yet.
if this car did have only that many miles on it, you should be able to tell the difference between it and 100 112 miles...this car although not driven much would still have to be like new...maybe a bit dirty but i would hope you could tell the difference....
