I read the other day about (sears die hard security battery) It has some type of internal electronic curcit. That you can disable the battery with a key ring remote. This is used for antitheft device. Has anyone tryed this.
Yep, I purchased one new when they came out. Really was a pain, never could get it to work right. Sear's later recalled and purchased it back for original price. Saved me $ 150.00

Re: Sears Die Hard ? (chevluvr)
I've had that battery in my car for 3 years now without a problem. It works like a charm. One of the best things I ever bought for my car. I don't worry too much about it getting stolen, thief has to bring his own battery or tow the car.
I think Sears recalled them because people could'nt coordinate the battery with all the other electronics out on the market now.
Same here, it was a total POS!! Had it in my van for a cross country trip, would come down from the hotel to find my memory completely erased every morning!! It would work when I didn't want it to, and not work when I wanted. As soon as we returned home it was returned to sears for a full refund.
Mount a hidden kill switch and forget about these things!
Hello MotherHead- I just went to Sears site and they don't list this battery. Has the entire line been pulled from thier shelves.
They have been recalled and are no longer for sale... so the continued discussion is moot. However, I did own one and was pretty happy with it. Worked as advertised, but for me the problem was you cannot turn the battery all the way off with the remote control button. The remote would only put the battery into "security mode". I was not sure if "security mode" provided protection from electrical fire, so i would always reach in and turn the battery fully off manually..... so why not just use the green wheel battery cuttoff?
It was never clear to me why they recalled them. At first I thought it was only because customers were not using the battery properly. Then I heard some horror stories about the batteries shutting themselves off while you were driving. They have a feature that lets the battery shut itself off if there is a drain to preserve the charge, but you wouldnt want it to happen while you were driving!! So finally, I reluctantly turned mine in, and the guy at Sears told me the problem was they didn't work well with new cars and all the electronics (certain alarm systems), but they were fine for the older pre-computer cars.... anyway, mine is gone. :) MJ
