Another example of "I shoulda fixed it myself."
Took my snow blower to the repair show in November. It need some major work, scraper, treads etc. Over the years I wasn't able to find the EXACT parts I needed for my particular model. The parts would fit but not perfectly.
So I pick up the blower and haven't had to use it for about a month. When we got about 3-4 inches of snow, I fire the baby up and start snow blowing. Well about a minute into it, I hear this rackety noise coming from the runners. I stop and check it out and low & behold the rubber runners have separated from the metal frames! Boy I was miffed. The stupid idiots didn't tighten the bolts that hold the rubber strips to the metal runners.
Bolts went flying everywhere.
I've subsequently re-attached the rubber to the runners.

Len, you should have known! :D If you want something done right, do it yourself. That said, my snow blower died once this winter too because I used a bolt where the correct shear pin should have been. Do it right or do it twice, right?
My Vette is sitting in the garage on the dolly right now, waiting to have its paint stripped. I planning to take it to Quick Strip, the local media blaster, but I really know that I should spend a month of evenings stripping it by hand myself. Luckily, it's too darn cold this weekend to worry about.

Len, they want $1000 for the whole car, I think it breaks down like this:
Body with doors, hood, etc: $600
Underbody (down to bare fiberglass): $200
Engine compartment: $200
They say they need the body for about a week. My brother-in-law is a contractor, so I have access to a few trailers that will hold the body. Driving with a trailer is easy, don't let that stop you! A Vette body on a dolly is pretty tall so visability won't be a problem. Seeing the trailer behind you is the hardest part of trailering.
Anyway, when I'm done in a few months you can have the body dolly! :D

Nooooo, No! I'm not planning on doing a "body off"! I'll be happy with as much "body on" restoration as I can manage. It's been almost 2 years and my engine is still in the garage! I'd be 80 before I finish a body off! :D

That sucks. :mad I try to do my own work when ever possible, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet. It's a shame not everyone shares the same pride in their work as we do. :nonod:

 Yea, I know what you mean. My wife keeps saying that we have to have kids sometime soon (I'm 35, she's 30), I keep saying the car's not done yet. I don't have time!

Len it it makes you feel any better, we've gotten between 3-4 feet of snow this week  I just picked up some extra shear bolts Wednesday just in case ;)
EDIT: It's -3 degrees F outside right now & I need to snowblow again shortly
