The search function seems out....so figured I'd just ask.
I picked up a set of Dynomax cerama-coat headers for a 78 Corvette. Im not at home so I cant peer under the hood, so...do I need to get any special brackets for the AC or anything? I know some header applications need extra brackest for the various pullies etc that used to bolt to the stock manifolds.
I'd guess you do. I've never been able to just bolt up a set to a late-model engine without some tweaking, even if they come with all the spacers and stuff you need. If your trying to do it in one sitting, then definitely get the dope on required stuff first. I'm betting there are some spacers required.
Imoth- You'll need a spacer for the bolt that goes to the bottom of the AC compressor, to make up the difference between the exhaust manifold and the header flange. Other than that, you're good to go.

he doesn't need one... if he wants to add one he can, but it's not something you have to do.

I know that the guys on the forum told you that that bottom bracket isn't necessary, but a 25 cent piece of metal isn't a big investment on one of the accessories that pulls a very large draw on its pulley, not to mention has some pretty sharp acceleration rates...
an agreement on the spacer for the A/C bracket. If you have a standard tranny, you'll have to remove the clutch rod assy. the asembly has one side connect to the frame rail and the other to the block. once the header is in place the assy goes between tubes 5 and 7 (or is it 6 and 8?)
Thanks all, great info. Im used to tweeking, grinding, spacing and otherwise raiding coffee cans of bolts and weashers to make things fit - sounds like this should be a fairly easy install. ( heavy on the "should be").
