I could have gotten it for $3.50, but I gave my buddy 5 bucks since he picked it up for me up the junkyard....being the giver that I am.
I have one in black on my desk as a paper weight, it's yours if you want it Oliver.
Thanks for the offer.. but I got myself a nice chrome plated aluminum bracket at the swap meet (at the NCRS show) today.. I already installed it and it looks and works great!! Thanks everyone for the help and input..
I'll try to post a pic of the newly installed bracket tomorrow..
The one that I bought today looked just like the one in the Ebay auction... with the only difference that the one that I bought at the swap meet was chrome plated... I only paid $15 :D :D
It's a March billet aluminum alternator bracket. It uses a tie rod with two heim joints to adjust the tension. No more prying, just turn the wrench and then tighten the jamb nuts.
Use that as the lower, and then use the universal adjustable bracket on top. The only problem is that it has to be drivers side mounted (I think).
I am running the alum version of the bracket pictured and I could not use a univeral upper bracket since the angle of the bends are diff, I think the universal one's bend was not as sharp as my orig so it would hit the alt housing before the bolt hole lined up.

I was able to use the universal upper bracket.. but it wasn't all that easy to make it work.. :D :D. I'll go to the car right now to take a pic of the setup...
As an option, Summit Racing sells billet aluminum brackets for short and long water pumps for $60 - $70:
SME-2000 Chevrolet: 262-400, long water pump, billet alluminum, alternator bracket $59.95
SME-2001 Alternator Bracket, SBC Short-WP, Driver Side-Cylinder Head Mnt., Satin $69.95
Does anyone have a picture of the Summit bracket installed on the car? This sounds like what I need, but they don't have a picture on their website.
Thanks!
Jeff
Did you haveto drill the hole you are using or was it pre-drilled? That was something I was thinking of but decided to use my old bracket instead. Too bad you can't cut the bracket off near your mounting hole to make it look cleaner but that would f up the chrome.
I like the look of the chromed bracket! Looks good and reasonably priced. Is that bracket for a long water pump or the short pump? Looks like I overspent on the March bracket, but it looks nice and mounts the alternator solidly.

It bolted right to the accessory holes in the cylinder head.. Don't know if the stock heads have the same holes.. My heads are DART Iron Eagle heads and they came with the accessory holes...
