header bar installation
I could use any info on header bar installation. I am in the process of a body off resto. so everything is already removed!!! thanks! : :confused:

Lennie are talking about the bar that goes accross the top of the front windshield. If so Im needing help with the replacement of that too. Mine is rusted out and needs to be replaced.

Hey Frank!, I was referring to the header bar under the front nose that supports the headlight assembly, its bonded to the fiberglass. but in support of your question I will try to help! That HEADER BAR is available from zip, corvette central and others. I think you need to cut the spot welds with a cutter that looks like a drill bit and rent or buy a spot welder to install. also I would rustproof inside every place you can access!!!!!! lenny

I just repaired mine last summer. After the headlights are removed and the fenderwell brackets unbolted,my header bar just fell outof my 79. Early years may vary. I sandblasted the bar and primed it with PPG DP epoxy primer. Then I used FUSOR 127 adhesive for SMC and primed metal and rebonded it. Now my hood and nose are level again. Thats just what mine did!!, mine was to rusted to reuse. I purchased a new one. I was told to use fusor also but I have 2 questions!!, do I sand both contact surfaces? (fiberglass and bar) and what grit do you suggest?. also the alignmemt factor. my concern is the headlights!! :rolleyes:
