Carb expert needed!!! Part II
"I went to start the '69 tonite after a several month period of just sitting (I know, I know, I should have been starting it periodically, but for one reason or another I was unable to) and when I try to start it, gas runs out of the vent tube(?) on the front bowl.See pic:
So I'm guessing the float is stuck; if that is it, how do I unstick it? If that's not it, what is the problem?"
I tried unhooking the fuel line and blowing some compressed air in per another forum members suggestion.
No change.
So, I removed the carb and drained it. After doing that, I could hear the floats moving freely when I rotated the carb, so I reinstalled it.
Still no change.
It leaks in the exact same spot just as badly.
I should add that the carb was professionally rebuilt and then driven 30 or so miles before it had to sit for several months.
Anyway, it would appear that a stuck float is not the problem, does anyone have any suggestions??
Also, the carb is a holly spreadbore, vacuum secondary, 650 cfm

I'm kinda wondering that myself. I took the carb back off and put on another one. I guess I'll take it back to the shop on monday and see what they say, it is still under warranty.
Another carb question: I put on another carb, a holley spreadbore, mechanical secondaries, 650 cfm. It runs, but the idle will fluctuate by 500 rpm's or more. For instance, I can run it for 15 minutes with the idle set at 1000 and then shut it off for 10 minutes, restart and the idle is at 1500-1700 rpm. If I set it back down, it will eventually not run because it tries to idle at 300-500 rpm. It's not a choke problem, because it is disconnected. Any help on either of these would be much appreciated.

If this does'nt work, looks like you'll have to remove the top and clean out with carb cleaner. LOL
