Default third brake light, your opinion please

I am thinking of taking the black plugs from my luggage rack on my 71
and replacing them with red led lights for a third brake light.
Not sure if it would be thought of as cool or cheesie
Any thoughts.........

At first, I thought "NO", but it might be OK - as long as they don't flash
back and forth like the Knightrider KIT car.

I saw some pics of som european sharks that have a third brake lite above the rear window. very discrete. if i was to add a libby lite it would be one of those. hopefully one of our friends will post some pics.

I'd like to build one into the back of the bar above the rear window.
If it matched the shape of the bar like this > then it would rock I think.

Will post a pic of this soon, Ghostrider moded this and it looks good, as well as, other mods...sharp lookin vette. So hang tight! My wife had an 89 vette with the third brake light and had four or five bulbs..each one was over 10 bucks a pop to replace...doh! I also have a pic of one of the guys replacing his bulbs with l.e.d. board...looked sweet and will last for ever, see if I can get that one posted also...! O.K. here are a couple of pics like a promised..enjoy!

I say "NO" :nono: but that just my opinion. Maybe you can do it in photoshop to get an idea of what it would really look like, then again you find out you totally hate it. IF that were the case then WOW you just saved yourself from a headache!!! :smash: :banghead:

Photoshopping won't help much, as you wouldn't even notice his idea - unless
the brake lights were on. He is proposing to put an LED in each of the black
plastic cones at the back end of each luggage rack tube. When off, you wouldn't even know they were there.

At least that is my interpretation. I hope it won't be a big red bulb hanging off of each one.

you would think someone makes an LED strip that could just stick on the back window. I hesitate to attach something to the body.

i'll do some research.

Removable back window ... but I suppose you could put a plug on it for removal.

Your correct NHvette a seperate bulb in the end of each tube, visible only when the brakes are applied.
Thanks Corvette Guy but I want to stay away from the tacked on later look.

How about this for an animation-chop - the brakes come on every 4 seconds.

That's pretty cool. I like.

And if it prevents you from getting run over by a truck or SUV its definitely worth it.
