We have a 69 in our shop with a rust problem at the rust prone area. That being where the rear trailing arms bolt to the frame. I can almost repair it from the rear and underside, but here is my question....
is it possible to cut an access hole in the floor from the passengers compartment and do some repairs to the top of the frame? We don't really want to lift the body!

There is a metal frame inside of the fiberglass that overlays the actual car frame. Cutting through the glass may not give you the access that you want. Lifting the body will give you an opportunity to inspect and repair the frame as well as the birdcage inside the fiberglass. Don't scrimp on frame repairs. My car was "restored" by previous owners and sold to me after it broke in half because only the bottom were repaired. I can email some pictures of the rust you can expect but cannot see with the body on. The pictures are too large for posting.

Yank it. Chances are pretty good the rocker channels are all rotted out as well. Be real careful lifting from them if you are not sure, straps that go all the way under are safer then picking the body with a "lift kit" that grabs it by the channels.

OK Guys, I thank you all. We will plan the lift. Is there anywhere on the net that describes how to do that? I've done a lot of automotive stuff but not that. THANKS again. Dale
