This was Vic's personal daily driver 15-20 yrs ago. Underhood is a Donovon Engineering all aluminum 406cu/in Small Block. I think I recall the trans as a DNE 5 spd. I have a set of those Champ 500 Centerlines in 16X8 if anyone likes em $450 for the set (were $400 each in mid 1980's.)
I sent an e-mail to Edelbrock asking if they would like to comment on the car and our posts here. This is the reply that I was sent.
QUOTE - As you may already know, it's a 1981 Corvette and was featured in Car Craft, April 1982. The engine is an aluminum Donovan 350 block bored .030" over. Inside is a Crower stroker crank and Crower Rods yielding a 3.652 stroke making for a 370-inch engine. It has Brodix heads, Victor Jr. intake and a Holley 850 double pumper. I'm sure there will be scoffers questioning the use of a Holley on our car and not one of our Performers, but that was how we built it in '81, and that's how it will stay until Mr. Edelbrock says otherwise. It made 500 hp at 6500 rpm and 461 ft/lbs of torque at 5000 rpm. The engine is mated to a Doug Nash 5-speed and the rear still retains its stock 3.08 gearing. For the article, it ran 13.10 @ 112 mph on street tires with severe traction problems. It's currently residing in our museum. I hope that's useful information for you. Please let me know if you need to know anything else about it. - END QUOTE
