I have my car in a garage, but the garage is VERY poorly insulated. The snow doesnt get in but its about 0 degrees F in there. Does this do anything to the oil, suspension, etc? Im going to go over there tomorrow to pour in some fuel stabilizer and drain the carb. I just hope its not to late, i havent started it up since december. Thanks for any help!! :chevy

Your car will be fine. In fact, I believe the cold can preserve the fuel, as it's a lot less volatile in cold weather. Then again, I could be dreaming this part. Anyone care to chime in?
My biggest concern, would be the quality of your antifreeze. It's there for a reason, and the last thing you want, is for the block to freeze. Also, drop some soap chips inside, to prevent mice from making your car their home. Vettes are nice, warm options for freezing rodents.

We drained most of the antifreeze out when we took out the radiator to coat it in POR-15. Could the antifreeze actually freeze? I'm gona go check its rating. Thanks for the help!!

The good thing about anitfreeze is that even if you don't have enough it doesn't turn rock hard like water but into a slush. So it's not AS destructive...
But the cold itself is OK. Mine sits fron November to april every year

Me too
I guess the best thing for the gas is to put Stabil in it according to amount directions and you should have almost a full tank of gas. The full tank prevent the open air area in the tank from developing condensation, which will ultimately put water into your tank.
I have heard stories of people finding up to a gallon of water in their tank when they finally drain it during a resto.

Don't worry about your gas either. It's good for about 1 year from the time you bought it.
That may have been true years ago when the gas was much better than the crap they sell now. However with the "modern" gas they sell around here, it starts to break down within a few months and will usually turn to goo in much less than a year. My advice is anytime your car is going to sit for more than a month or so, add stabil to the fuel.
It is also is very important to run the car long enough to get the stabil treated gas thru the system and up into the carb. This is the area you want to protect the most. For less than $5 a bottle, it's cheap insurance and much better than rebuilding your carb. :yesnod:

Cold?? Did you say COLD??...hell yeah it's cold. Averageing -8 F every night this week up here near Gurnee IL. [Quote] Does this cold do anything to the car?[Quote] Sure....This cold damp weather eats at our cars, turning them into a pile of oxidized dust. No matter how we try....old father rust marches on.
I know you know that...I'm just ranting.

I put gas stablizer in around the end of december and I have a small electric heater that keeps the temp at around 25 to 40 degrees in the two back garages which is fine. I wouldn't slam doors in ultra cold weather, but the cold doesn't do any harm itself.

I have always stored my car in a unheated barn with a cement floor. However, I also store my car inside a CarJacket. It isn't totally sealed because the CarJacket has a zipper that closes off the top piece to the bottom. I also place five packets of desiccant inside the bag. I have left the car for up to two years and it comes out with the rotors just as shiney as the day it went into storage.
